ABS masterbatch is a special masterbatch: it is made of the same plastic as the carrier according to the plastic variety specified by the user for the product. For example, PP master and ABS master respectively choose PP and ABS as the carrier.
Universal master color: A resin (usually PE with low melting point) is also used as a support, but it can be used for coloring other resins besides its support resin.
The color masterbatch used must pay attention to the collocation relationship between the color material and plastic raw materials and auxiliaries. The selection points are described as follows. (1) color material can not react with resin and various auxiliaries, strong solvent resistance, small migration, good heat resistance, etc. In other words, the masterbatch cannot participate in various chemical reactions. For example, carbon black can control the curing reaction of polyester plastics, so carbon black material can not be added to polyester. Due to the high processing temperature of plastic products, the color material should not decompose and change color under the condition of molding heating temperature. Generally, inorganic pigments have good heat resistance, while organic pigments and dyes have poor heat resistance, which should be paid enough attention to in the selection of color varieties. (2) the dispersion and coloring power of the color material should be good. When the color dispersion is not uniform, it will affect the appearance performance of the product; When the coloring force of color material is poor, the amount of color material will increase and the material cost will increase. The dispersion and coloring power of the same color material in different resins are not the same, so we should pay attention to this point when choosing the color material. The particle size of the color material is also related to the dispersion. The smaller the particle size of the color material is, the better the dispersion and the stronger the coloring power. (3) Other properties of the color should be understood. For example, for plastic products used in food and children’s toys, the color should be non-toxic; For the plastic products used in electrical appliances, color materials with good electrical insulation should be selected; For outdoor plastic products, should choose good weather aging resistance color, etc.
